That MAY be very... very tempting.
Group of friends, i.e myself and 2 or 3 others floated an idea to get an old Lexus LS400 as a pool beater car and just go on trips around europe or carry junk around when necessary with it.

hmm, also we were considering going back to Berlin and then doing a road trip from there. urrr, I'm sure this fits in somehow.

I shall raise this with said friend.

Yeah if you search for Czech Wrecks on Youtube you'll see loads of teams that previously did it, and the route is pretty good too. We're going for a Black Bedford Rascal decked out like the original Batmobile, with us two dressed as Batman and Robin.
