I didn't mean to make that last comment direct at you Ash. I was just making the point about how diverse the Galaxy is before someonelese came up with that daft saying which is, "What more is their to find out there?"

At any rate, i think a spin off series will be a HUGE risk to anyone invloved

When SG-1 was starting up it was taking a risk. The film was successful in the terms that it made four times as much money as it cost to make, but it was by no means a worldwide box office smash like Independence Day and Titanic. Stargate had a more serious tone than Independence Day (can't say what the reviews were like) and I am betting that it was not a popular film as some films such as Star Wars, Star Trek and Indiana Jones.

When SG-1 was being created the only thing that Brad Wright had to go on was the fact the film did not flop and was worldwideley hated (it was pretty succesful, enough to ensure people know what the name was), and they knew that the show had potential. If Centroplis made a Stargate 2 it would have brought in the money at the box office the way ID4 and Godzilla did. Who knows if it would be a success. Nothing is Guaranteed. The 6th season is not guaranteed to be good. It might be utter crud (most likely it will not be crud for me). Every new episode is a risk and the only thing guranteed in life is death. I agree about bringing new blood to make the show. What I said above might actually not make sense because I think I began to run away with myself so I apologize if it was babble

The movie Stargate is termed a "sleeper" hit. It had a successful draw at the box office and drew fair critiques, but it did not bust the block or get indeliably marked into popular culture. Considering that the film team of Emmerich/Devlin's previous venture was a flop (the Jean Claude van Damme action flick Universal Soldier), they made a great improvement with the release of Stargate.

Stargate was the film that showed the world that Devlin/Emmerich could make Big Budget movies and make them well for a sizable budget. The term Sleeper is what I was trying to come out with Hael, but couldn't think of a term. I like it. Stargate also paved the way for a newcomer called David Arnold who created a wonderful Soundtrack.

I can't remember if I wanted to see it in the cinema but I was certainly impressed by the film when I saw it on Vidoe. Years later I just realised how impressed and how much the film influenced me. For the past four years I had been writing a story that was basically a re hash of Stargate.

I don't go out and watch many movies in the theaters themselves. Most often, I catch them on video or DVD.

Stargate, however, was one of the few movies I did go out and watch in the theater.

Cool Indeed

lol Why are you so fascinated Venus at the fact that a film like Stargate would be on the big screen? It's a film. It was on the big screen as was Strictyl Ballroom, Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge.

What is up with you saying 'Indeed'? Is it like your new Ugghh?! What happened to that btw?!

Yeah, but I think that Stargate is a great film, and there are so few good scifi films out nowadays. Plus, all I've seen it on is a TV screen, same with Matrix, and it seems that it'd be much better at the cinema with a big screen and ... loud.

I saw The matrix on the cinema a few weeks ago and it was amazing. I hadn't seen it in the big screen and it was so cool. I so wanna see Stargate on the big screen.
