Not exactly GMG material, but I am slightly dismayed to be working in an environment where they don't let phones in the building. I now have to buy a watch just to tell the time.

You've made your third missed approach in a row into a closed airport. Really think you should divert to your alternate.

Admittedly, my only knowledge of such things is from watching crash investigations on the televisor, however, it was my understanding that with the instruments in a modern commercial airliner it's possible to, in a pinch, land in zero visibility conditions, reasonably safety? Even then, what's the harm in landing at the alternate? You lose a few hours? Heaven forfend, anything but that! Oh well, the black box will provide some answers.

Yeah, with a fully equipped modern aircraft and the appropriate facilities at the airport you could technically land a plane with no windows, but we don't because equipment isn't always perfect, may be down for maintenance on a certain day or unserviceable for some other reason. Modern airliners operate on a basis of predetermined visual minimums. Typically, if on the approach you still can't get a good visual fix on the runway by the time you reach 200 feet (appropriately named "minimums"), you go around.

This vid is quite good as you see the runway and hear the calls on approach.

Yeah, I'm definitely leaning on pilot error for this one, but I too await the results of the black box analysis.
