control panel-> power settings
tell the computer to never sleep/hibernate, but leave the monitor timeout settings intact. thatway your computer wont powerdown to save electricity, but the screen will tunr of so as to not bathe the room in light while your trying to sleep

All right, done, thanks.
Thing is, I don't mind it going to sleep when it's not doing anything. But it knows not to go to sleep when iTunes is running. Why doesn't it know not to sleep when Soulseek is running?

Must be an API Call that iTunes makes which SoulSeek doesn't. Email the guy who does Soulseek and tell him to include it in next version.

So, because I'm using the N version, I often get error messages about missing WMV and WMA related DLLs. I just download the DLL from the interwebs, plug it into the program files directory, and everything works fine.
Not working fine this time. This time, after copying in the DLL, I get: The procedure entry point WMCreateReader could not be located in the dynamic link library WMVCore.DLL. So, can I have please either a solution to this problem, or a decent free replacement for Windows Movie Maker that can edit mpg files and won't need those DLLs? Ooh, or how about some free DVD burning software?

Sourceforge... Loads of good free software there. VirtualDub springs to mind on video editing...
