Saw a few movies on the plane going both ways.
So Yeah, wtf was up with the Golden compass ending? I mean I know they're making a bunch but still, what a gip (and I can barely remember anything about it apart from the fact that the ending was crap).

Also more Nicole Kidman please.

Oh yeah, and the whole witches thing cracked me up, they were so crap.

Have you read the books? The movie ends a little bit sooner than the first book did, but the reason for that would have been to end on a happy ending. The book ending was not only worse (in terms of screaming for a sequel) than the movie, but it was also pretty sad.

The golden compass was a huge disappointment, they made it shallow and intended for children, not exactly Pullman's core audience...

They were children's books written by a children's author for children. They might have dealt with "adult" issues. But they were still, first and foremost, written for children

I would read the book but there is no way in hell I'd watch the movie. I think Nic Kidman needs to die she is the worst actress ever. Drags our aussie land through the mud. So annoying and bland.
