Yeah, I was thinking it'd be like one of them...

Yeah, I was thinking it'd be like one of them baking soda rockets if you opened one side. Given though that they moved a shield with emitters all over the station to something relatively small...

I came up with it, within moments of it being made clear the shield wasn't going to hold. They wouldn't need to even 'make a hole', just make one side weaker than another. An asymmetric failure...

Perhaps not, but we have seen numerous occasions of "all power to the forward shields" (at the expense of the rear). Essentially, they didn't need to contain the blast, just redirect it.
