Modertors set

I think we should set Moderators out to Moderate Specific forums. However,, that wouod nto mean we only assign Mods to certainforums, but we personally assign Mods to Mod a certain forum. Having the ability to Mod in every forum does not mean you have to Mod in every forum. For arguments sake:

I arrive at Gaters and look through In-Depth and moderate all my new posts for In-Depth forums. I then move on to off topic and I see Donkey Porn posted, so I do something about. That's the kind of stuff I would like to see happening. My thoughts:

General Forum:
Goa'uld and Nug

In-Depth Discussions:
Indiana and Jaffa'Kree!

Plots and Episodes:
President Doc and Rhydderch Hael

Schedules and Air dates:
Goa'uld

Fan Fiction:
Marleen

Off Topic:
Mac, President Doc and Chamelon

So I suggest this as a routine. You arrive at gaters, head to your forum, mod it and then post anywhere else you wish. If you spot something in another forum which needs modding and no one else has done so then you do your stuff. I need to see everyone agree to this?

Yeah, Although I wouldnt mind modding a bit in the physics threads... although I have begun to stop reading those too

Anyway, yeah, I thought there was a general concensus of who modded where anyway, but good to see it written out.

And I guess blatent nuke material is done wherever.

I thought that that idea was scraped before???
I don't think this idea is really gonna do anything. A mod would still nuke posts from another forum if they find anything bad....

Are you saying this idea as a certain Mod going through all the new posts in their section and nuking bad stuff and in other sections only what they read in the certain threads that they go in and nuke the bad stuff and they don't have to look for it in all the threads???

I don't know what the reasoning behind this is.... if I see a problem or one is reported, I fix it. This isn't a military operation.

How many of you can honestly say you read every single thread and every post in every forum? We're moderators fcol? We have a job to do, but it seems you guys don't want to do this.

Yeah, and look what has happened. Members have been getting up tight over pam and started doing our jobs because it seems like the non-mods read more threads than we do. If you don't want to do this idea then I suggest that you're not wanting to be a moderator and that we drop you.

I know it isn't a military operation. We're mods and have a job. Yes, it's a job. Personally I think that Goa'uld and Chameleon are saying what they are because they can't be arsed moderating what does not interest them. It's not a case to moderate what you want to read, but Moderate everything. And if you do feel like that then you should not be Moderators.

Are you saying that different people should be responsible for the different forums, as you have outlined, in order to make sure everything gets moderated?
If that's the case, why don't you just say so, without getting all huffy about it.

At least for me it has been very hard to see a motive for you posting this idea.

That's exactly what I said in the original post. I'm not saying that you have to change it back to the way it was. We should all still have the ability to perform moderator functions in an individual forum, but each of us should have a responsibility to a single forum.

I did not mean to get huffy. It's just you seemed quite laisez-faire about it all.

The way it was before, Say Mac were the mod in off topic, but some fool posted tub girl everywhere then I couldn't moderate the threads in off topic with tub girl.
If things stayed the same, but we were all given responsibilites in one forum then we could still remove those horrible tub girl images if they popped up in a forum that we didn't have a responsibility for.

i think its a good way to have some sort of order, but i wouldn't want to be restricted to modding only one forum. If we all still held open modding rights, but understood that we have a more focused responsibility to a certain forum, i think its a good idea.

So, where was oFFaL in that list? He said he wants out?

oFFal doesn't seem to be here anymore, but when he does turn up he tends to Mod well

JK _ You wouldn't be restricted to any forum. Here it is, step by step.

1) We are all assigned to Moderate every forum right now. Which means we can nuke, delete and edit any post in any forum in any thread. That would stay.

2) Although wehave the ability to Mod everywhere we would have responsibilites to one forum. Therefore JK, you would have a responsisbilty to read over every post in In-Depth. However, you would not need to read every post in every other forum.

3) In Simple terms you moderate in your agreed forum above and in every other thread oyu happen to post in. So if you're a Mod in In-Dpeth and read some flaming going on Off Topic or Gen you have the ability to do something about it.

Understand JK? You would not be restricted to Modding at In-Depth, you wouold just have a responsibility there

oFFaL is busy working full time and studying after work as well...which is why he isn't around much anymore.

The above suggestion is fine with me. But in answer to this....

I think the idea was, there are so many of us that every thread is bound to have been read by at least one moderater. Whether it ended up like that is another matter.

Indiana I resent that.....I was just asking a question as in is that what you meant.. I wanted to make sure that i was following your line of thought and didn't get anything wrong.

I do happen to read every forum and mod what I find...i don't just go to Off topic and Spam if thats what you think and i believe that it is.. i read just about all the new posts in every forum and because i'm not a school any more and have nothing to do in the days just about everything else.

I actually think that its a good idea....Have a mod read all the posts in their topic and only what intrests them in others.... It wouldn't hurt to try it out...and if it doesn't work then it can be fixed.

Shit, sorry JK. I misread your post. I thought you were saying otherwise. My mistake.

So if oFFal isn't going to be a Mod should we not remove him from the list?

Chams, by your first paragraph it looks like ur saying uo thought it was bad idea, so where are we with this?

I like this idea, it would certainly help order things around here. But I wouldn't force this system on anyone. Can we get a public vote here on who wants to be in this and who doesn't?
