Brits and Swearwords...

lol; I just read the funniest thing; (Quote from... well, I dunno, something linked with IMDB);

"Elijah Wood Picks Up British Swearwords

Elijah Wood has being picking up bad habits from the mostly-British cast of The Fellowship Of The Ring. Wood, who plays hobbit Frodo Baggins, has fallen in love with the commonly used English swearword, 'c*nt'. He says, "I used to hate that word, it sounded so dirty, but it became almost a silly British phrase that, when used correctly, is brilliant, especially with the accent." And it's not the only word Wood has taken to using in everyday speech since spending 18 months filming the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. He says, "B*ll*cks, F*ckin' 'ell. F*ckin' too right. Top! Top one! Top one mate! Bloody 'ell, I still say a lot. Knackered. Minger. It mings. And if you're really drunk, you're monged? F*ckin' monged. It sounds exactly what it feels like."

Totally cracks me up. And I didn't realise that we had our own swearwords; Do Australians or Americans not say any of them then?!

Now, now Venus. you're getting off topic. The departure of Boromir was sad. The second time I went to see the Fotr was even bettr. The audience was great. They laughed at the funny scenes and cried at the sad scenes and shat themselves at the shit yourself scenes. The soundtrack ad landscapes are cool...is there anything bad about this movie? Me no thinks so. I always believed that Galadriel was supposed to be really Beautiful, but me no thinks she's the most Beautiful ever, but that's just me. I suppose it's down to preference. Ughhh...Liv Tyler as Arwen was a good choice. Ya know she's exactly five years older than me? She bears the same Birthday as moi.

Sigh, trust you to get me back on topic. Anyway, you were getting just off topic by the end of your post!

I think definately the second time I went to see it, it wasn't so great. Did anyone see in the movie how, when departing Lorien, they got those brooch things they got in the book? And I think they should also have included Legolas's... encounter (and the blindfold but) with the elves. Only so that it would enhance Legolas' part.

So, favourite parts anyone?

Parts you'd want changed? (NO-ONE take that the wrong way!)

Yep, it's Sean Bean, who played British rifleman Richard Sharpe in the TV adaptation of Bernard Cornwell's series of books set in the Napoleonic Wars.

Sean Bean originallly pressed for the role of Aragorn.

The second time I saw the movie I found myself thinking about the original casting suggestions from when this was just a movie proposal, long before they got the final go ahead.

Aragorn - Sean Bean
Legolas - Leo Di CrappyO
Arwen - Uma Thurman
Frodo - That kid from Home Improvement
Gandalff - Patrick Steward

With Pierce Brosnan and whats his name from Monarch of the Glen also linked.

I think the casting that they used was great, and far superior.

Oh! And for one day, on a profession writing forum, someone linked up a picture and story from during filming.

It alleged (said because the person who posted it was threatened with legal action for making the original claim)

That a certain hobbit and friend had a habit of not taking the hour and a half to get out of make-up before running down the road for a brew after filming. That said hobbit had a tendancy to get plastered and be lewd towards the ladies.

The photo was taken from the staff section of a pub, it was a hand written sign that read: "Please do not serve the hobbits! Ask them firmly to have the make-up removed first. Pay will be nicked!"

Or something very close to that - it was almost a year ago and it was only up for the one day. I would love to know if it was a real problem during filming....

rotflol... can you just imagined if they all didn't bother to take off their makeup? and a bunch or Orcs, or Elves for example, were seen wandering (or terrorising) around NZ towns.. *giggle*

I just got home from watching the film - wonderful, enchanting stuff. I really got into it, was totally absorbed in the fighting scenes, it felt like i was really there. My fav scene would be that final battle with the orc/goblin hybrids.. they were uuuuuugly... and when Frodo decides to go on alone.. *sniff*

Rivendell was beautiful... wouldn't mind living there, thakyou very much!

So many things in the film i loved, but was also sad that so many things had to be cut out or changed, aswell. But it's understandable why, and i thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. And yes, i too felt that i could have sat through the next two movies aswell!! I wish it hadn't finished like it did - and we have to wait so long to see the next parts - talk about a cliff hanger!!!! The wait will be worse than having to wait for the new season of stargate :P

Rivendell was one of my favourite landscapes. It was a good idea for Jackson to bring in Alan Lee and John Howe as Concpetual designers. Forgusy who haven't a clue who these guys are then for your information they are artists who have their works published as the covers of many of Tolkiens books. They also have created some of the best paintings based on Tolkiens works.

Jaffa - Considering you're interested in music scores. What did you think of the soundtrack to the movie? Will it dawn your cd collection? I know it will dawn my cd collection.

Having just read the book I saw that the Drarf silver is called MITHRIL.
Well I live in Mithril Close!
You are probably uninterested in that fact but I am quite shocked that in my little home town in northern England has a connection to Lord of the Rings. I always wondered where the Close name came from!
We also have a garden centre down the road called Rivendell!

Do you live anywhere near Oxford?

Ooh, glad you brought that up Indi. I know that Enya's doing the music OST or whatever, but where is it in the film? Is it what's playing when (spoilers) they run out of the Dwarf mines, just after meeting the balrog? Does anyone know when it plays in the actual film?

The song by Enya is called, "May it Be" It plays throughout the end credits. Me and my friend sat through the credits yesterday listening to the song in the cinema.

I figured as much. Trouble is, I always go and see it with friends, and then they wanna go as soon as the credits start!

Don't suppose you could find a link for me (for either music and/or vid; does anyone know if it's got pics from film in)? I've tried the official site, and Enya's page, but whenever I click on the links, the page doesn't load up. Although I suspect that's my computers way of telling me that it doesn't have Quicktime 5, ro whatever it is you need.

Money

You could buy the Soundtrack to the LOTR or you could download the song from any file sharing programme like WinMX or Kazaa.

I'm definatly getting the soundtrack! I loved the music in it espically the violen (?) bit in the mines of Moria and Enya's song at the end.]

Stuart Townsend was also ment to be playing Aragorn but they thought he looked to young (or he left due to 'artist differences' either or).
Leo De Caprio would have made a useless Legolas! He's a good actor but no way would he look right for the role. The same with all the others (Patrick Steward, not a chance!)
Elijah Wood made up his own audition for the part of Frodo. He went out to his back garden dressed in Hobbit-like cloths and read from the book. Before that Jackson didn't even know who he was.

Bring on next Christmas!
