I can't help but think of three-dimensional vector space, with a vector of the form ai + bj + ck. So depending on how you orient the vector, a positive "a" could mean "up", and positive "b" mean "right". So in a sense, there is an "up" and a "right", but the terms have to be pre-defined.

I like that crack about the skirt and transporting, (no pun intended there with "crack" btw)

Chameleon, I totally forgot that about the Earth's axis. So really, you have to be at somewhere around 67 degrees North latitude to be "at the top of the world" (I suppose this is at the Arctic Circle).

That is always the fun part, for me, about a sunset. If you stand there and conscientiously think about what's going on--the Earth is rotating in the direction behind you, and as a result, you are going around to an area where the sun isn't shining. (Moreover, you are on the side of the Earth and that is why the sun appears "up" and "setting", as opposed to you being hurled into the dark side of the sphere.)

If you think about that long enough, sunsets become a foreboding proposition. (And you might get dizzy like I do, too.)
