Unhappy how does a gou'ld enter the host and who can be hosts??

where does it go?? In thru the mouth, or thru the stomach or where??

Can it take over the human host on it's own...ie. can it survive out of the water and slither over to a host or does it need water to survive ie. can't breath outside it? (and is that even water that it's in or some other liquid?)

and does the snake need someone else to help it get inside the host (ie. a surgeon) or can it bite it's way thru??

also, are humans the only species that can be hosts to the gou'ld? Can they use Asgard or other species??

ahhhh...too many questions....

it wraps around you spinal cord and connects somehow to your brain

and Aris Broch (sp) his ppl cant be hosts so the goauld killed almost all of them

the asgard were never in a situation where they can be hosts because they are more advanced and the goauld run from them

Goa'uld need to connect with the central nervous system, so will seek entry into the host body near the head. This can be through the side or back of the neck, through the back of the throat, or anywhere around the neck.

The Goa'uld can slice through soft tissue on its own, and implant itself naturally and without surgical help.

Many species can become infested with a Goa'uld. Humans, in fact, were not the first nor only host creatures for the Goa'uld. Most notably, there is a race called the Unas (the "First Ones", literally) who bear resemblance to the Jem'Hadar of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. When the Goa'uld initially invaded and conquered Earth over 10,000 years ago, they did so in the bodies of the Unas, then switched over to human hosts. Two possible reasons why they prefer human over Unas hosts?aesthetic appeal (Goa'uld are naturally snobbish are prefer beauty) or perhaps psychic/psionic capabilities (the mind controlled weaponry they're known to employ have only been used by Goa'uld in human hosts).

Hey, if you're new to Stargate, try going over to www.gateworld.net or other stargate sites to get caught up(www.rdanderson.com www.thesgc.org are another two) . They might offer better information than here

And important episodes to watch -
In the Line of Fire (season 2), Tok'Ra 1 and 2 (season 2), Summit, Last Stand (both season 5) for the Tok'Ra storyline
Touchstone (season 2), Shades of Grey (season 3), The Sentinal (not really though, season five) for the rouge teams storylines
The Fifth Race (season 2)
Fair Game (season 3), Nemisis (season 3), Small Victories (season 4), Menace (season 5) for the Protected Planets, Asgard and Replicators storylines.
Enigma (season 1), Between two fires (season 5) for the Tollan.
If you want to find out what happens to Skaara and Shar'ui - Secrets (season 2), Forever in a Day (season 3), Pretense (season 3), Maternal Instinct (season 4) and Absolute Power (season 4).

Smile

Thanks for all the help guys, i'm starting to get it all now.

Just another question.... Since the Tok'ra snakes are good, what happens when they take over a human host?? Do they both live in equal co-existance?? Is one personallity submerged by the other? Or is it like the Star Trek Trills where they share joint personalities??

For example, say that I had a To'kra snake inside of me...can i just go around doing whatever I want?? Does it talk to me? Can I talk to it?? Do we have discussions with each other....in other words, is it just along for the ride with me in control or do our personalities merge??

the tok'ra can take over the host (as seen in abyss). they are just like the goa'uld and can take over whenever they want but they don't. They share control and co-exist in the one body. but not like the trills (as one). there is some way of communication between the two cos we've heard jacob refer to things selmac told him and other reasons but we've never seen them go around talking to themsepves so i presume it's psychic or whatever
each has their own distinct personality, they just share the body. best eg. anise and freya where one liked jack and the other liked daniel.

edit to change joseph to jacob. don't ask

Tok'ra/human combinations are each onto themselves. Jacob Carter is still Jacob Carter in the end, and Selmak is Selmak. They just happen to be reeeeeaaaal close together now. So close, sometimes it'd be hard to figure where the human ends and the Tok'ra begins.

But the do nor "become one" as the evil goa'uld go.

inter host/symbionte communication probably takes place on the same level as thinking in your own brain.

Ie you have a voice in your brain with which you can talk, for example what im doing whilst typing this out.

In the same way you could probably have conversations with your symbionte who would have the same voice as when he speaks through your body, or perhaps a voice of his/her (gender preference) choosing.

The "Snake" (Goa'uld) has to have set contidions. 1. a host, 2. a host with spinal cord, 3. a host who is sentient, 4. a host with a human oid physiology, because humans are almost equal on all levels. fairly strong, faily inteligent, medium brain capacity, movement is fairly quick, etc.

Hhhmm not so sure about the sentient part. That 'thing' in "The Tomb" did seem very human like or 'sentient'. Theres also the Unas they are not exactly what you'd call fairly intelligent.
