Question 2010 Question...

No, this is not about time travel. I was watching 2010 just before and wondered what Teal'c is now doing? Jack is retired and fishing, Sam is still a scientist, Janet still a doctor, Danny a rock-collector, but no mention what Teal'c does now that the "war" is over. Any ideas? If the Jaffa were chiefly a warrior class, what do they do for fun now?

welcome jonas, hope you have fun here =)

i remember a scene late s5/s6 where teal'c sits around eating and drinking and making merriment with his old friends, kinda reminded me how the ancient greeks/romans would pass time - perhaps that's all the jaffa do now?!?!?!?

(edit) - yeah that scene was in "the warrior" (nothing spoilt here though)

I believe that on many occassions teal'c has stated that once the war against the Goa'uld was over, he would return to Chulak with his family

On the one hand it would look like he had an early retirement, on the other hand, he would be close to a hundred years old by now so , yeah, well deserved retirement.

close to a hundred? if memory serves, in The Light he said that he was turning 103 really soon, so he would be 113 in 2010. i suposse that's close, but nearing not so much.

I don't think his life after the war was all that merry. A lot of Jaffa died when that Aschen weapon deprived them of a vital element: Goa'uld symbiotes. Surviving Jaffa forces, no longer bound to the whims of the Goa'uld, may have splintered into various factions led by several warleaders, each one trying to carve out its survival in a growing crisis: the Jaffa are on the verge of extinction, and symbiotes are the lifeblood of each faction's chances at survival.

Teal'c is undoubtedly a leader among his people, but I seriously doubt he commands the entirety of the Jaffa population. He may be trying to contend with rival factions while trying to solve their shared problem in his own fashion.

Im sure they would have been "helped" by the Aschen, all Jaffa willing to be cured would have had their reliance on the symbionte terminated and could lead their lives as normal human beings.

^^^ just a thought - would obtaining a few sarcs at the end of the war, and lining all the jaffa up in orderly file on chulac to jump in cure them of their reliance on baby snakes????

However, Teal'c in that episode indicates that the Jaffa loyalty to Earth is tenuous, as they have very few symbiotes left for their use. This would show that the Jaffa are still reliant on the Goa'uld, that no cure is available for them.
