You need to distinguish between Martyn-your-friend and Bose-the-gaters-member.

What he did was wrong, no matter what his reasons - and just because he didn't like being talked about behind his back (which is a load of crock anyway), is no reason to do what he did. People have been banned for a lot less.

Not that i'm saying that is the course i would take, but I dont think you should be defending his actions.

And of course we care. We care about how this forum is run, and what we say in here has a lot to do with that - including this thread. How he got in here will never be proven, by you, him, or anyone else. That fact is he admitted to reading this forum when he did not have permission to do so. His reasons for doing it are null and void. (repeating myself? yes, because the point needs to be made). You've done an about face Indy - one minute admitting that this is a private forum, the next saying he has every right in the world. Make up your mind.

He is not the only one who has made complaints about what is said (or what they perceive is said) in here. Are we just going to open it up to everyone now to prove them right or wrong?

If someone gets mentioned here it is for a good reason.

Bose's reasons: I don't see why he wanted to do it, but for some reason he wanted to hack in to see if he could and well he did and it was like, Ok, he's in. If Goa'uld hadn't been as arrogant as he was, he was willing to show how he got in and help prevent it, so in any ways, it could have been proven. I personally think he left because when everyone found he got in, we all cast the 1st stone and this upset him and he decided he did not want to help out people who were not interested in him.

one minute you are saying that it wasn't him, now you're saying you can prove it was? WHO CARES?! He got in, the board will be upgraded eventually so no-one else can (we hope) - he made his point. He's gone now, which i find sad, but there you go.

But what is this about 'casting stones' eh? We are not to blame for the unprevoked actions of another. i dont know what you are trying to prove here Indiana.

When I made the post about TW it was just a theory based on something vague Martyn told me.

1) I'm upset that he hacked in.
2) He hacked in for lesser evils, just to see if he could, but not to harm us (not that it makes it any better, it just makes it less worse)
3) He is a friend though and so I will not join in in calling him a retard and other names calling because he made one mistake.
4) I understand how he feels about people talking about him behind his back. It's not the talking about behind the back thats the problem, but the manner in which it was done. You have to admit that the "Venus and Bose" thread was rather a gossipy type thread, even I submitted some shameful gossip which I later delted as I realised we did not need it.
5) I'm trying to look at both points of view as a moderator and a friend. I'm friend with you guys and Martyn. I'm a moderator so I want to respect base security, but am not gonna turn my back on friends as friends are all we have. I consider everyone on Gaters a friend (well maybe not Anoobis ), but I do see that Bose has made a mistake in doing this.

I'd rather not be a politician as I'm not good at explaining myself. I hope you can see I'm not enemies with anyone here, but friends. You can get upset with friends with things they do, but you still remain friends in the end.

Please see that it is hard to look from both view points...and this is what I am trying to do.

No not really. What you refer to there is the hacker ethic which I don't agree with really. If you think of a site like this as someone's house....he is guilty of breaking and entering. He may not have taken anything, but both are unethical anyway.

Ur not listening. If u were shot and rendred a vegetable then that would be a greater evil, but to be shot and killed, over shot and not killed...hmmm it's a diffcult choice.

Anyway, Evils are Evil, you just get lesser Evils than others. It's Evil to kick a man in the bum, but it is even eviler (If i can be so corny?) to kick a man in the balls

However, Bose is gone and there's nowt we can do. Maybe he will return one day, maybe he will not. The balls in his court and I suggest we discuss this matter no further.
