It's true that bringing back old characters too often gets boring, and is also very off-putting to the newer viewers who haven't seen earlier seasons.

I could care less about Nyan, and as far as I'm personally concerned, Skarra's story is over with. But I'd really like to see 2 characters again: Aris Boch and Nick Ballard. We probably won't see either, though.

I don't know about that ....re Nick Ballard....

with MS leaving the show I wouldn't be surprised if they threaded something in with his grandfather.... just so they could recycle the DJ character back in for the occassional guest shot.

I can't see the DJ character actually leaving SGC to go back to teaching or something else mundane...it's more likely he'll go off-world and either get lost/captured/by choice so that they can reintegrate him back in at later times.

I think that Aris Boch was a one ep thing. He won't be back. I'd like to see what happened to Nick Ballard, but according to MS's recent interview ( posted at the Starguide site), he isn't sure Danny will be back at all in season 6.

Yeah. Very carefully avoiding spoilers here for those who don't want to know how they're writing Daniel's character out, but it's being done in such a way as to have the "potental" for bringing him back for an episode or a movie. I haven't heard of any concrete plans for Daniel Jackson to be in Season 6 as yet.
