Beginnings And Ends - Teen Brigade 5
"HELP ME! O'NEILL!" Jo's frantic yell pierced through Jack's ears, but for
once, he did not react. It was like he did not hear her, but he did. Sam did
too. She was giggling away merrily. Giggling? When Jo had screamed for help?
Only in this scenario would that ever happen.
The play of SG-1's humble beginnings. Jo was acting as Skaara, whilst
Charlie was Daniel Jackson, tripping up and sneezing all over the place.
Some other members of the SGC were the team, while Jonas took on the role of
Apophis.
"Jaffa! Kree!" They dragged Jo away.
"Wow! You guys were great!" Sam giggled. Jack nodded, but smiled at Charlie
meaningfully. She gave him a hug.
"Daniel would be proud of you," he muttered. She smiled.
Suddenly, a small breeze blew through the corridor. Jack smiled again.
"Space monkey," he murmured. The breeze came back.
"Flyboy." Jack jumped.
"Danny?"
"The same. It's been a while, but I'm almost done." The wind blew itself
out, leaving a very anxious Jack with a confused family.

Weeks passed, as they do. Jack soon forgot that eventful evening, but
Charlie and Jo didn't. They'd heard Daniel too, and were excited. He was
almost done!
But soon, even the youngest and most excited of minds forgets. They did.

Jack sauntered into his office. He stood still at the door, a look of shock
on his face. It changed to a look of compassion as he grabbed his best
friend in a manly hug.
"Danny boy!" Daniel Jackson looked the same; ruffled hair, glasses and a
look of curiousness upon his delicate features. But he had changed on the
inside; smarter, no longer human, but essentially he was Daniel.
"Hey Jack. Miss me?"
"Ah, just a bit."
"Jack, I need to know. Who replaced me?"
"Jonas Quinn."
"Really?"
"Yeah. It was either him or a Russian. But enough about that. How are YOU?
Smarter?"
"Yes, Jack. A lot smarter."
"C'mon."
"Where're we going?"
"To meet the folks!"
"Ohmigod! Daniel!" Sam ran to hug him. They stood, Sam crying into his shoul
der.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing! It's just... you are back!" She withdrew and the tears shone on her
face, but the smile beamed at him. Charlie walked in.
"Hey, guys." She was looking at the paper in her hand. "You will never guess
what I...." She stopped. "DANIEL!" Daniel grinned. Charlie was ecstatic. Jo
bounded in and fell over Charlie. She muttered a complaint.
"Ouch! Charlie, you..." She looked up at Daniel. "A little help here?" Daniel
pulled her up into a hug. She giggled.
"You're back."
"Ya think?" said Jack, who was sick of everyone saying that Danny was back.
It was pretty obvious that he was back...
"General, what are we going to do?" Sam paced his office. "I mean, now that
Daniel's back, there's seven of us in SG-1! It's too big for our team." She
stopped pacing and looked at the general for a response. He frowned.
"I see the problem, Major. Maybe we should put Jonas and the children into
their own team, but with the same responsibilities as SG-1."
"What, like an SG-1 and a half?"
"Yes. I like the name. Very appropriate!" Sam blushed.
"Thank you, sir."
"So lemme get this straight." Daniel sat down. "I'm back in SG-1, and Jonas
has to be kicked out and put in another break-off team. Yes?" Sam nodded.
"That's how the general envisaged it."
"No."
"No?"
"No, I'm not putting Jonas through that. Either he is kept on the team, or I
quit." Jack sighed. Jonas shook his head.
"I was always a replacement for you. You're back, so I'm not needed in the
team anymore." Daniel frowned.
"Yes, but I'm not staying." Silence.
"Not staying?" asked Jack. Daniel shook his head.
"I have to go back. I can visit, but only for a while. I'm going tomorrow."
"When exactly were you planning to tell us?"
"I wasn't, but."
"So you were just going to leave," exclaimed Sam. "Daniel, do you know what
being left behind is like?" Daniel bowed his head.
"Yes, Sam. I do. Shar'e left me behind."
"But we knew you were still alive. That's a lot worse." Sam walked out. This
is not good, thought Daniel. Jack stopped him from following.
"Just promise me," he said quietly, "that you'll watch over us and help us
when you can."
"Of course."
"Good. I'll sort Sam out." Jack left. Jonas coughed.
"So, what's it like being on a higher plane of existence?"
Daniel left without a ceremony; what was the point when he was coming back?
SG-1 sent him off on his travels with a cheery wave and few tears. Sam
apologized and wished him the best of luck. Charlie and Jo did a song and
dance spontaneously to say goodbye; they surprised even themselves! Jack
said little, but smiled wisely and chuckled a lot. Teal'c expressed his
gratitude for Daniel's wisdom, and Jonas thanked him for his notes that he'd
left behind. But all in all, Daniel left quietly.
He'd be back.
"JACK!" Jo screamed. Jack turned to see her disappear from view. He cursed
and followed the path that she'd been dragged down. Sam couldn't help; she'd
been too busy fighting the Jaffa trying to engulf the Stargate.
But in the tunnel, Jack stopped. A swirly blue light had filled the tunnel
and headed in the direction of Jo. Jack grinned. Moments later, it emerged
with Jo, who was smiling.
"Thanks, Space Monkey."
Fin.
