and yet the blocks form to whatever they need. Who's to say that they could put a couple of blocks together to make some makeshift eyes or sensors? As for the acid, maybe a byproduct from eating all that metal?

but the blocks are a cm square as a couple would need to be a bit bigger so they would be visable and you cauld see the eye type apendage but you cabt it is just fat

or all the blcks can see then they would have a 360 degree view

Well, as said, they could have a form of sensors that we don't see, instead of eyes. Every time we see from their perspective it wasn't normal vision, but a bit more like infared. I'm not sure exactly what you'd call their type of vision, but it isn't like they'd have to specifically form eyes and such.

All this of course means little to nothing, since the writters could throw something in any day to completely blast out any idea we could have at explaining these things.

I don't think they can see.
From the POV shots we've seen of the replicators, it doesn't seem like "vision" but more like graphical representations of some other perception, like sonar or heat.
This would not require an "eye" to be visible, but rather a concealed sensor.

It's possible that every single block has such a sensor, hence their "distorted" perception like a fly.

I'd love to find out what that acid stuff is they burn metal with. Because they have to make it out of the materials they have available to them...

nah, i dunno.. combination of both, maybe? They spray the acid then 'chomp' up the metal they 'eat' through, maybe they do the same thing to humans to kill them? Jack says 'ew' when they turn over the dead Jaffa, could indicate that the skin was eaten away, or even that they had been 'eaten/scratched' to death or something.. you cant see the wounds all that well, but whatever it is, it'd have to be impressive, cause it doesn't seem to take much to kill someone...
