Dont ask me what the hell happened here this arvo, but it would be muchly appreciated if the off topic mod can delete the 'DEATHS ramblings' thread or whatever, if death doesn't do it himself, first. Damage control needed in a few other forums, if you get complaints via PM, mind if i grab a copy so i know whats being said?

okay, what looks like has happened was someone hacked into Deaths account, or the board itself, posted a rather stupid and insulting post, and 'trimmed' (as rhydd put it) several off topic posts and put them all into one thread. i think it was 20-30 or so posts from all different places put together to look like an actual discussion.. it was surreal, to see stuff i've posted, and others had posted, all put there in 'response' to this one stupid post (DEATHs Ramblings)

It would have been convincing if a) death wasn't just a member, cause it was obvious that he didn't have the mod or admin status to cut a thread like that together and the fact that so many posts turned up just out of the blue. (ie: 30 in about 45 minutes) and b) it was too well done to be any of DEATHS work. Spelling, for one :P it was easy to tell which were his posts and which were the 'imposters'. plus i doubt that DEATH would even know how to do that to the baord.. heck, *I* dont even know how to construct a fake thread like that...

When the *real* DEATH turned up as well, it got rather confusing to say the least, it seemed both were posting at the same time, or DEATH is a lot more than he seems and has been pulling our leg the entire time with his 'uneducated' persona....

But i got several PMs from him begging me not to ban him, and stick up for him if people call for a witch hunt, as well as him posting several dozen apologies... :P

so, who knows what was really going on, only The Keeper can find that out, and he's AWOL as usual :P

Thanks to Offal for posting the 'rules' thingy in Off Topic. Hopefully people will just accept and do as they are told, rather than get their backs up about it. Good luck to the rest of the mods in controlling this lot

but despite all this, you hafta admit that the mood has definalty changed (for the better) around here... well, i've noticed it, and i'm around every day.. i dont know about you guys that are away most of the time (damn you people with real lives)

Sorry! I didn't realise that it was the case at the time I deleted it. When I received that message from Jaffa as to delete it that's exactly what I did. I don't think there is anyway to revive it. Guess the only thing we can hope is that it doesn't happen again.

yeah goa;uld, it was freaking weird... like i said, it was exactly like a normal thread, except that i know that those posts came from elsewhere... i didn't check to see if the original posts were still in their respective threads, and i didn't check IPs... sorry, i think i was too busy just trying to deal with DEATH himself, rather than worry about that..

Sorry guys, I am now offline. I can only access the net via college or a public terminal. If I knew then I would have told you sooner, but Death did make that post. It's just a split thread. It was a part of the "No longer convinced of O'Neill's fight Power". However, death got a little too off topic in that thread so I split it and moved it to off topic forum. Perhaps in furture I'll delete such posts or make a statement which says that it was split from another thread. Thas why it looked as if you had replied to the post Jaffa. Sorry guys.
